Twin Oaks Community Foods makes Twin Oaks Tempeh, which is hand-craftedsold in the freezer section of specialty markets and grocery stores. It is an amazingly nutrient-rich soyfood, high in protein and B vitamins, low in calories and fat, and completely free of any cholesterol. Tempeh differs from tofu in that it has a firmer texture, has a greater density and higher in fiber because the whole bean is used. Twin Oaks Organic Tempeh contains 15% protein (about as much as beef and chicken) and more than ground beef. It has the highest quality protein found in any soyfood. It is a complete protein and a good source of vitamin B-12. This makes it an excellent choice for strict vegetarians and vegans! Twin Oaks Tempeh is sold in a re-sealable, recyclable plastic bag. When you are selecting our Tempeh, keep in mind that any gray or black spots are sporulation and perfectly normal and optimal for any fermented Tempeh. Keep it frozen until ready to use. Before cooking, simply allow it to thaw in the package for 45 minutes at room temperature.
