Always keep Twin Oaks Tofu refrigerated. All types of tofu need refrigeration. After opening our vaccum-sealed package, cover with cold water to keep moist, and store in a sealable container. Tofu usually lasts about a week once the package has been opened. For best results, change the water every day. We recommend using only spring- or distilled water. We make Twin Oaks Tofu with non-flouridated, chlorine-free artisan well water, so urban water is an entirely different substance. Tofu tends to take on the taste of whatever it is mixed with. But DON’T STRESS over it… no matter what water quality you use, life will still go on.
A whole new take on tofu! The texture of frozen Twin Oaks Tofu is denser, chewier and more substantial (opportunivores LOVE it). You can pop the vacuum-packed tofu in the freezer as is, or open the package and cut it into cubes or strips, then put in a dated container. Tofu can be frozen up to 5 months. That will get you through the impending apocalypse! When you are ready to use, defrost completely, squeeze excess liquid out, and get cookin’.
Foolin’ them carnivores
We like to call them “opportunivores.” They’re the equivalent of scavengers in the wild: you eat what you find in front of you. To make them happy, and to make tofu similar to chewy ground meat, put Twin Oaks Tofu in the freezer for at least 24 hours. Then thaw and crumble into your recipe. Add lots of spices and herbs, and use in pasta sauce, taco filling, meatloaf, enchiladas, casseroles, burritos. Or you can try our amazing Twin Oaks Vegetarian Sausage. It’s spiced and herbed and ready to go right out of the package. Spicy Chorizo is a major favorite around here. You’ll be amazed at how good it is. YUM!
